Why we started
Hosting without the fine print
A lot of web hosting is sold the same way: a low introductory price, a renewal that costs much more, and a checkout full of extras that turn out to be essential. Security and backups are often the first things to become add-ons.
Denobulus was started to do it differently. Every plan is published with its full price, including renewals. The things that keep a website safe, such as SSL, daily backups, a web application firewall and malware scanning, are included on every plan instead of sold separately. And when something needs attention, your ticket is answered by a person on our team.

The name
Why “Denobulus”?
The name was inspired by the Denobulans from Star Trek: Enterprise, and in particular Dr. Phlox, the ship’s doctor. Phlox was endlessly curious, calm under pressure and genuinely glad to help, which is not a bad description of what we want a hosting company to be.
It was a personal choice, and it stuck. The name is unusual enough to remember, easy to spell once you have seen it, and it suits the personality of the company: capable, friendly and a little different from the usual hosting names.
